Zoo time in the fall....

Sometimes you just need to enjoy the moments you have and now with the 4 months off for me, we are able to do that.  Over the next month I will be incorporating the book I am reading and tying that into our homeschool day and the extra curricular activity we decide to do.

On Thursday, our oldest has a Chemistry Lab Class in Clio, which is a good 45 minute drive for us.  It has become a routine for us to drive her, check out Goodwill and Kmart and eat at a restaurant.  A few years ago when we did this same thing, the girls loved it, now that our oldest is able to drive, she wants to drive herself.  I can not blame her, so we will have to make an exception and let her drive and Shelby and I will hang out in the back of the van so we can still do our routine, but Amber can do all the driving.  (Lord grant me patience and nerves of steel as this is a good thing, but yet, so easier said than done!)

As a side note, Amber is a great driver, just needs more practice and odd situations so she can learn and yet, be safe.  So let's see if I can stick to my word and allow the above to happen from now on.

On our way back home yesterday we stopped at our towns zoo.  Shelby, who has always loved and adore giraffes, now loves and adores bob cats.  So we thought we would stop and check things out and use the membership we bought and yes, her science unit is on mammals; this is a win, win all around.

We forgot our camera, so we used our cell phone camera, which I have been told, is not what you want to use when you want the pictures to last.   It was all we had, so another win win.

Shelby was very excited and ran to the jump measure to see how high she could jump, needless to say we had to remind her to not jump so we could take a picture with our cell phone camera.

We really liked checking the zoo out when it is cooler weather, the animals that could be out would much more active.  Shelby then ran to the playground area with the dolphin statue and told me to take her picture because it is tradition, I always take her picture on the dolphin every time we go.  (note to remember:  that would make a great scrapbook page if I could find all those dolphin pictures.)

..then for ole' time sakes, Amber climbed on the wobbly platform and had her picture taken with Shelby. I was reminded this was another traditional picture.  (where are those pictures?  hence, another scrapbook page).

By this time, it was raining at a good pace and we debated about rushing through the rest of the zoo or just heading to the van.......going back to the mission of the month of Oct.....enjoy the moments....we therefore continued on.  We rode the carousel, the train, and shopped in the zoo store.  It was a wonderful hour at the zoo!
